5 RULES YOU NEED TO FOLLOW FOR HEALTHY GROWING HAIR

 

WHERE TO START?

Whether you’re transitioning from relaxed to natural, trying to regrow your edges or you’re confused about where to start chances are you don’t have a regimen in place. When it comes to healthy hair & growth, you definitely need one.

Your regimen should be simple at first and should develop over time as you figure out what your hair does & doesn’t like.

Today, we're giving you 5 rules you should follow for healthy growing hair.

These rules will help you make a solid decision of whether you want to be happier and more confident with your hair or keep being frustrated with your results. :)

The thing is, [fuller edges and a thicker hairline] is something everyone wants but NOT everyone is willing to work for. That’s the truth.

I’ve talked to countless women who were really only slightly interested in [healthy hair] and wanted to [growth]... but never got there. They either expected overnight results or didn’t dig deep enough to truly understand the root of their hair problem (pun intended) lol.

 

1. HYDRATION IS KEY

Water is THE MOST basic way to get your hair moisturized. Wetting your hair every now and again is not enough. Remember that water naturally evaporates over time. So, you could wet your hair now and in a few hours, it is dry again. Your hair’s porosity (high, low or regular) makes a difference in the way your hair absorbs water. Here’s the good news though…there are things you can do to make the water in your hair last longer.

  • Leave-In Conditioner (spray preferred)
  • Aloe Vera
  • Apply a cream based moisturizer after you add water

     

    2. KEEP YOU SCALP CLEAN

    I don’t care what your hair type is….YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR SCALP CLEAN! A clean scalp is the foundation to healthy hair growth. A dirty scalp usually means dirty/clogged follicles full of product build up. When it comes to wash day, focus on getting the shampoo on your scalp and giving it a good massage.

    How often you wash is up to you. Every 2 weeks is recommended especially if you use products daily.

    • If you cleanse your hair more than every 2 weeks, stay away from sulfates. Using them too frequently could strip your hair of natural moisture. Opt for a gentle or all natural shampoo.
    • Deep conditioning is a must. Once per month is ideal but you can experiment to see what works best for your hair.

      Anytime you shampoo or condition be sure to detangle your hair with your fingers or with a wide tooth comb or detangling brush. Start from the ends and work your way up.

       

      3. SIMPLE, LOW TENSION HAIRSTYLES

      Any hairstyle that’s low maintenance and doesn’t cause tension or breakage will do. When trying to regrow your hair gentle hairstyles are your best friend. Even the most “kinkiest texture” may not be as strong as it seems. Always treat your hair with extra care and attention to maintain maximum health.

      • Choose a hairstyle that does not require a lot of pulling and restyling daily. Twist outs, loose braids (knotless), cornrows, wigs that can be removed daily, etc

       

      4. GIVE THOSE ENDS A TRIM

      Many women are holding on to dead ends because they don’t want to cut their hair shorter. Don’t think of it as loosing length but encouraging healthier growth. Remember your ends are the oldest part of your strands and usually the driest and most neglected. Trimming your ends not only keeps them fresh but gets rid of damaged/split ends as well Once your ends split, there’s no repairing them.

      • Don’t use your kitchen scissors to trim your ends. Let this be one of your hair splurges and hire a professional.

       

      5. NIGHTIME ROUTINE

      What you do to your hair while you sleep is just as important as what you do during the day. Keep it simple by using either a satin scarf or bonnet, satin pillow case, satin edge wrap. You could even use all 3 if that gives you a peace of mind.

       

      NOW WHAT?

      Once you truly understand how to pay attention to what you hair wants and needs it’s easy to lock down a solid routine. With all the latest trends, techniques and influencers on social media haircare can get confusing.

      You need to be real clear on your reason(s) behind why you want healthy hair. Not just the superficial reasons. I want you to dig deep to truly figure out why having healthy, growing hair is important to you.

      You may realize at the end of the day that the process to get there isn’t for you, and that’s okay. But if you realize that having a solid regimen may be something you are interested in, we're here to walk this journey with you!

      • My personal reason are I got sick back in 2019 and I loss my edges and I want my edges to grow back so I stop get braids that was pulling my edges I couldn’t stand nothing on my hair tight so my hair dresser started rolling it
